Don Stocking Coaches Award:
Don Stocking was a long time member of the Dominion Hills Recreation Association and a dedicated contributor to the Dominion Hills Swim and Dive Team. His contribution spanned a wide spectrum of activities as parent, team official, and Northern Virginia Swim League President. His involvement with the swim team began in 1958 when his oldest son started swimming and continued to stay involved as all seven of his children and then all twenty of his grandchildren swam summers in the NVSL. He served as President of the NVSL from 1963 to 1964 and was a long standing member of the Dominion Hills Board. He continued to stay involved with the team well past the time of any family participation, refereeing his last meet in 2010. As a result of his selfless dedication, mature guidance, and longstanding contribution to the Dominion Hills Swim Team, he helped forge an environment dedicated to enabling any Dominion Hills Warrior athlete to strive to do their best. Don Stocking’s legacy is the Dominion Hills Swim Team. The Don Stocking Coaches award is given to a swimmer selected by the Coaches in recognition of outstanding contribution and service to the team.
