Recap - All Stars

If there was an award for best poker hand, DH would have had a straight with finishes in 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 18th. All very impressive finishes in an always tough All-Star field. In the end, Dominion Hills ended up with the most divers at the meet, with 7, so there is much to be proud of, and lots to build on for the future.

Recap - Divisionals

After a very chilly start, things heated up and the Warriors had what must have been our best Divisionals showing ever. All told, 7 divers qualified for All Stars! That's almost half our field of 16! We have good electrictronic records that go back to 2002 and the most we had sent prior to this was 5.

Additionally, team scores were kept; 20 points for each 1st, 17 for each 2nd, etc. For the second year in a row DH won the Divisionals meet award! Onto the results.

Congratulations to Luke Dangel, who was our lone first-pace finisher of the day, in the Intermediate Boys group.

Gavin Simpson, Grace Dennis, and Austin Bannach each got second place finished.

Also qualifying for All-Stars by achieving the qualifying score were Ellie Joyce (3rd), Luke DiBenigno (3rd) and Max Jolley (4th). Riley Shelton also earned a plaque with her 6th place finish.

But wait, there's more! Morgan Shelton, Dakota Bannach and Luke Dangel brought their 'A' game at the right time and set new personal bests!

Good luck to those going to All-Stars and congratulations to the team for a truly amazing showing!

Recap - Cardinal Hill

In what was very likely one of the most fun dive meets in recent memory, The Warriors ended up in a very appopriate 35-35 draw with our new BFFs at Cardinal Hill. It was a very special night for many divers for many different reasons, so this is a long one.

Where to begin? First, we said goodbye to Flora Hepp and Katherine Smith, who have each meant so much to this dive team over the past several years. Their spirit, attitude and sportsmanship set the gold standard for future Warriors. They will be missed. The meet was stopped for a few minutes before the Senior event for a few words and tears and laughs and signs and flowers and awkward photos.

Ellie Joyce broke a 16 year old record for Junior Girls by scoring a 135.40 (The previous record, held by former Warrior diver and coach, Jessie Everett was 135.35)

Grace Dennis won on her birthday. I'd call it a gift, but we know she works hard for those beautiful dives...Happy Birthday Grace!

Sandis Walker and Andrew Uz participated in their first ever A meets today. Andrew is a lifeguard that wanted to try it out and Sandis did so well at Cracker Jack the week before, he wasn't ready for his season to end.

Congratulations to those that got personal best high scores tonight! Lulu Ax, Luke Jolley, Sandis Walker, Ellie Joyce, Joseph Nixon and Andrew Uz!

On to the place award winners: Gavin Simpson, Ellie Joyce, Luke DiBenigno and Grace Dennis all got blue ribbons. Luke Jolley, Max Jolley, Joseph Nixon, Flora Hepp and Andrew Uz all picked up red ribbons. For the first time this season, we had no third place finishers.

I know I had fun tonight and I hope you did too. It was a fitting end to our regular season and we'll see you at the Banquet Friday night.

Recap - CrackerJack

The weather cooperated for most of the day, but with one event left at the end of a very long day, there was a rain/thunder delay, we waited it out and Tommy and Sandis did a great job following up on James and Levi's great work from earlier in the day.

In the 7 year old boys competition, James Gallagher got 28th and Levi Fullen got 18th.

In the 9 year old boys competition, Tommy Joyce got  25th and Sandis Walker got 17th. Everyone did an awesome job!

Recap - All Arlington Meet

Competing against our close friends in Arlington in a laid-back atmosphere is so much fun....or maybe it was the Rocklands food truck that made it great..no, it was definitely the diving.

Unfortunately, we don't have good records for all the competitors, but we can congratulate our top three finishers:

Ethan Ermovick and Molly Cooper earned 1st place awards. Elena Rizzo and Levi Fullen picked up second place finishes and Sammy Wong, Evan Woodward and Hayden Shelton all got 3rd place ribbons.

Congrats to all on a great night of diving!

Week 4 Recap - Camelot

During the heavy rains of the July 5th meet, hundreds of toads ascended the hilly woods around the Camelot pool and filled the pool while the diving continued - Divers were literally landing on toads. No toads this week, but the Warriors descended and brought their A game to Camelot. We didn't come out on top this time, falling 39-31, but some razor-thin margins in several events shows how close this meet really was.

Be sure to congratulate Jeb Bachrack, who made his A Meet debut this week!

Several divers earned personal best high score this week: Morgan Shelton, Luke Jolley, Gavin Simpson, Eli Pilch, Jeb Bachrack, Riley Shelton and Grace Dennis.

On to the placing divers: Gavin Simpson, Ellie Joyce, Luke DiBenigno and Luke Dangel earned 1st place finishes. Max Jolley, Riley Shelton and Grace Dennis finished second. Luke Jolley and Joseph Nixon finished third.

We need to recognize Riley Shelton and Grace Dennis for diving up an age group...and finishing second in the process. Well done!

Recap - Wally Martin Memorial Meet

Riley Shelton and Ellie Joyce represented Dominion Hills at the Wally Martin Memorial meet on Sunday.

In the 3 Meter Junior Girls event, Ellie finished in 4th place and Riley finished 8th. Both are phenomenal results against the best of the best on 3 Meter...from a pool without a 3 Meter board.

In the 12 and under 1 Meter Synchro event, Ellie and her friend Jocelyn, from Kent Gardens pool, repeated as champions!

Recap - B Meet - Arlington Forest

There's no better way to spend a hot day than at the pool, diving with your closest neighbor. Our team did just that Thursday against the Tigers of the Arlington Forest Club. It's always encouraging to see how many young divers we have, and it's impressive to see how far they have come in such a short period of time. They all need to be congratulated for getting out there and, in many cases, competing for the first time ever!

Team score wasn't kept in this meet, but we have some ribbon awards to highlight.  Molly Cooper, Jeb Bachrack and Ethan Ermovick all took home first place awards. Logan DiBenigno, Hayden Shelton, Tyler Moss and Keaghan Fahle picked up second place finishes and Hannah Ax, Levi Fullen, Bella DeFilippi and Sandis Walker earned third place finishes.

Please read the full results here and congratulate everyone for getting out there and representing DH so well.

Week 3 Recap - Great Falls

It was nice to have a meet in nice weather for once, I'm sure none of us heard any thunder, no sir-ree...the real thunder was on the boards, where DH notched their first victory against a very, very good Great Falls team by a narrow 33-34. But, more importantly than that were the personal milestones our divers achieved. Many divers got their first taste of an A meet and many personal best high scores were achieved. It was really a fantastic night all around. We are so proud of our team and the excellent work they are putting in this year and their sportsmanship on deck.

Participating in their first-ever A meet tonight were Molly Cooper, Greta Kirchoff-Johnson and Sammy Wong. Congratulations! You all really did great!

10 divers achieved personal best high scores tonight: Lulu Ax, Molly Cooper, Johanna Eyl, Greta Kirchoff-Johnson, Morgan Shelton, Sammy Wong, Ellie Joyce, Kate Mulvaney, Rachel Mulvaney, Luke Dangel and Katherine Smith. The hard work is paying off!

Earning 1st place awards tonight were Gavin Simpson, Ellie Joyce and Luke DiBenigno. We nearly claimed all the second place awards tonight: Johanna Eyl, Riley Shelton, Grace Dennis, Luke Dangel, and Katherine Smith. In a one-point team victory, the third place finishers pushed us over the top, congratulations to Lulu Ax, Max Jolley, Luke Jolley and Rachel Mulvaney!

Week Two Recap - Highland Park

The streak of unseasonably cold weather on dive meet nights continued this week, this time with the added twist of cold rain. Diving in that weather with a wet board is no fun, but we all went out there and had an excellent meet. We fell to Highland Park 38-30, but there is still so much to celebrate.

Morgan Shelton, Dakota Bannach, Joseph Nixon, Kate Mulvaney, Rachel Mulvaney and Austin Bannach all set new personal best high scores!

Congratulations to Max Jolley, Grace Dennis and Austin Bannach on earning first place awards. Luke DiBenigno, Riley Shelton, Rachel Mulvaney and Luke Dangel earned second place awards and Luke Jolley, Dakota Bannach, Joseph Nixon brought home third place ribbons.

As always, we thank our divers who are willing to dive up an age group. This week it was Joseph Nixon and Austin Bannach, each placing in their event!

Week One Recap - Fairfax

Well, the Warriors fell to the Fairfax Frogs 39-32, but there was a lot to be proud of in defeat. We had many first time divers, many personal bests, many first through third place finishes, and many thanks for the troopers who agreed to dive-up an age group, so let's get started.

Congratulations to Lulu Ax, Johanna Eyl, Lilly Pilch, Morgan Shelton and Eli Pilch for participating in their first A meet. We are so proud of all our newest divers! It can be intimidating traveling to a strange pool for that first meet and they all did great!

Congratulations to Lulu Ax, Johanna Eyl, Lilly Pilch, Morgan Shelton, Eli Pilch, Ellie Joyce, Grace Dennis and Austin Bannach for setting new personal best high scores!

Congratulations to Gavin Simpson, Max Jolley, Ellie Joyce, Luke DiBenigno and Austin Bannach for bringing home first place finishes! Riley Shelton and Grace Dennis got second place awards and Katie Dietrich finished third.

Lastly, we need to thank those divers that "took one for the team" by diving up an age group to help us balance out the team. Huge thanks to Ellie Joyce, Grace Dennis, Luke DiBenigno and Austin Bannach.
